I know this place. Their website did not.
CLAW BBQ is a real American crab shack in Dubai, and I am a regular. I have spent evenings there: karaoke, billiards, drinks that arrive before you look for someone, people who are genuinely friendly, a room that looks remarkable from the outside and better from the inside.
Then I opened their website. It reflected none of that. Not a little of it — none. It could have been any restaurant anywhere.
Two things, and only one of them is design.
The first is that everything which makes people come back was invisible. The feeling inside the room never made it to the outside.
The second is the one most restaurant sites share: it tried to do everything at once and therefore did nothing clearly. A lot wanted, little achieved. Before anything can be shown properly, it has to be cleared up.
We rebuilt the site around the evening rather than around the menu.
The room first, then what you can actually do there — the games, the karaoke, the reason you stay for a second round — then the food, then how to find the place. A menu is a document. An evening is a decision.
And we cut. The structure carries one idea per screen, because a guest deciding where to eat tonight does not read, they scan.
None of that came from a briefing. It came from having been there — playing billiards, staying too long, watching how the place actually works. Most agencies never set foot in the business they are building for. This is why we go and look, or at minimum have it described to us in detail, before anyone opens a design tool.
It sells the evening the guests already talk about. Everything that makes people come back is on the page now, in the order a guest actually decides in.
Two things this build deliberately left out. The community: the Google photos and reviews guests are already producing every week belong on the page, because they are more convincing than anything we could shoot. And the events: there is a lot happening in that room, and none of it is visible. That is where the next round of guests comes from.
A concept build nobody commissioned, made by a regular. Nothing about the venue is invented, but no one at CLAW BBQ has approved a word of it.
A website that only looks nice is dead weight. Website Systems builds a site from your actual business goals — one that takes work off your plate and turns visitors into real enquiries.
Next build

The Elite Cars
A supercar dealer whose website already looked good — and still could not sell a car to someone who didn't feel like driving over.

Juwelier Dührkoop
Fine watches, sold from a page you could not lean into.

Andy Engel
A man people fly across continents for, with a website built for people driving past.

BSD Wiedemann
We stopped his website selling fire extinguishers, so the business could start selling expertise.

Hofmühl
A brewery does not sell beer on its website. It sells the reason someone reaches for that bottle in the shop.

Aurora Grand
A hotel website you walk through before you book.
